The Superior Court is Washington State's general jurisdiction trial court, which predominantly handles family law and felony criminal cases, along with protection orders, evictions, juvenile issues, and various civil disputes. It also addresses appeals from District Court and state administrative agencies, with potential further appeals to the Washington State Court of Appeals and the Washington State Supreme Court.
The Whitman County Superior Court Judge position is up for election this year with the retirement of Gary Libey. It is a four year term position.
